What is Mock Trial at Georgia State?

Competition

Georgia State Mock Trial provides an opportunity to learn and experience the US Legal system through academic competition. In Mock Trial students play both attorney and witness roles, develop case theories, characters, and handle arguments and objections based off of the rules of evidence.

Community

Mock trial teams brings together students from diverse backgrounds to collaborate, compete, and grow both intellectually and personally. Team members bond through countless hours practicing, analyzing cases, and traveling to tournaments. The environment encourages support, mentorship, and trust, as students rely on one another to perform under stress and improve over time. Outside of competition, mock trial creates lasting friendships and a network of peers passionate about law, advocacy, and teamwork. Through mock trial you can make friendships not only in your program but across different programs across the country.

Co-Leading

GSUMT is mainly student-led, and because of that we have lots of opportunities for co-leading. From team captains, coaches, and our executive board, we encourage you to take the reins and lead you and your team to success. Success in mock trial is completely dependent on collaboration not a strict hierarchy, each team member must contribute ideas, and theories to make the team stronger. This collaboration creates a culture where leadership is distributed throughout the program, so that we can lead GSUMT to success together!
